There are four easy ways for Tweed trout and grayling anglers, both local and visiting, to help the Tweed Trout & Grayling Initiative (TTGI).
The first is to record your angling catches in one of our catch log books. As angling catches provide a sample of what is in our rivers they are very important for fisheries management. Long term catch records also show trends in fish stocks (such as declines or increases in numbers).
The second is to fill in one of our angler questionnaires. The questionnaires tell us what Tweed anglers think of their fishing, what they want from their fishing and what changes they think have occurred within Tweed angling.
The third is to allow the TTGI to copy any old Tweed angling diaries/catch records or photographs that you possess, either of past catches or of our rivers. Old catch records allow us to compare modern Tweed angling with past Tweed angling whilst old photographs, if retaken, allow us to assess changes within our rivers (such as loss of deep water or comparing past photographs of good catches with modern photographs of good catches).
The fourth is to collect trout or grayling scales. Scales can be collected from either dead or live trout/grayling and show the fish’s age (scales are like tree rings but more complicated). When combined with the lengths the growth rate of individual fish can be established.

To find out more click on one of the options on the left hand side. Alternatively, if you would like to become more involved, see the “what we do” section of the web site. We require volunteers for most of the activities listed.

If you would like to volunteer with the TTGI, request additional information, request log books, scale packets, etc. please fill in and submit the form below.

We also need a lot of historical information; if you can supply this please follow the links in the side bar.

If you would be prepared to answer more detailed questions about your experience of Tweed we would be most grateful; you can do so by downloading this questionnaire (207k) and sending it to us at
