Participate

This key to the success of this Initiative is enabling members of angling clubs to take an active role in the management of their own local fishery. Many factors are often quoted as effecting fisheries but the problem managers have is ascertaining which of these are actually having an effect; it may be just one or more likely a combination of several. Anecdotes are important to the extent that they identify possible effects but in order to rectify problems objective information is required.

There are a number of key areas that members can participate and make a valuable contribution to knowledge and understanding of their waters which in turn will allow them to make objective decisions. The documents below describe why the work is required, what it involves, how to do it and what outcomes should emanate from it. Each of the participating Angling Club and Associations has a liaison officer - if you wish to take part please fill in the form and this will be passed to your local officer. Young people are particularly encouraged to participate and, again, your first point of contact is you local club’s liaison officer.

Links on this page take you some of the key material that is required for our work. All the documentation can be downloaded from the Downloads page.
