The lack of such research is specifically mentioned in the literature: Parker and Ronning (2007) make the point that “One potential area of conflict that to date has received little attention, particularly in Europe, is the effect of dam-building on the migration and reproduction of anadromous salmonids, in particular Salmon (Salmo salar) and Sea-trout (S. trutta)”. Halley & Lamberg (2001) stated that “If the subject of the likely economic impact, if any, of Beaver damming on sports fisheries is to be addressed seriously, much more comprehensive investigation is required.”
