1. Bookings for Tweedability boats is managed by the Tweed Foundation, from Drygrange.
2. Whilst enquiries will be taken from and help given to anglers, the bookings themselves will only be taken from the beat or an agent of the beat because it is the beat itself which will have responsibility for the boat and its use.
3. Where a beat’s agent makes the booking the Tweed Foundation will assume that the agent has made necessary arrangements with the beat’s manager.
4. Booking will be taken on a first come first served basis and must be received at least one week before intended use.
5. The Tweed Foundation will confirm each booking by telephone, fax, or email and will reply to give formal confirmation of the booking.
6. To use a Tweedability boat, each beat must satisfy three conditions
6.1. That there is access to launch the boat either at the beat itself or by arrangement with a neighbouring beat
6.2. That there is suitable access to the River for a wheelchair either by hard path or by another means e.g. “tank” matting
6.3. That the boatman has undergone a bespoke Tweed Foundation training course in using Tweedability 1.
The Tweed Foundation maintains an up to date list of beats that satisfy these requirements.
7. For each booking, the Tweed Foundation will deliver the Tweedability boat to the beat manager or boatman by arrangement, who will be required to sign an agreement taking responsibility for the boat for the period of the booking. An additional agreement, which must be signed by the angler, will also be supplied to the beat’s manager or boatman.
8. A charge of £20 perday will be made for the use of Tweedability boats but beats and/or users are invited to make a donation to the Wheelyboat Trust. The donations will be used to recoup the costs of running the boat. Cheques should be made payable to the “The Tweed Foundation”, preferably using a gift aid voucher that will be supplied with the booking form, and which should be given or sent to the Tweed Foundation.
9. It is a condition of the loan of Tweedability boats that beats report to the Tweed Foundation how many fish they have caught using the boat immediately after fishing.
See photographs of the boat and how it works. The office can also provide you with further information and answer any queries you may have.
